FOH DTLA New Menu Preview

As a DTLA local, I was excited to finally be able to try FOH! Front of the House, or FOH, is a new Mexican fusion restaurant that opened up in the heart of downtown. They offer a full bar as well as a

FOH is launching a new menu this Monday, May 9, and here are some of the dishes they are serving!

Small Plates

Watermelon, burrata, fennel: always a great start to a meal as the combination is light and refreshing.

Romanesco, olive oil, lemon: Tastes like cauliflower, but with more texture. I love how FOH cooked this dish. Simple yet pleasing.

Guacamole, panko, mango pico: The guacamole was panko crusted and deep fried which was super unique to me! I love how it adds a nice crunchy exterior to contrast with the soft and creamy guac.

Smashed Plantains, queso fresco: You can never go wrong with deep fried plantains, and the cheese with green salsa added the perfect finishing touches. Be sure to eat this dish while it's hot!

Carne Asada Taco, guacamole, quail egg: Adding eggs on everything is always a win, and this was no exception. Overall a great, juicy taco.

Medium Plates

Jalapeno Cornbread, polenta, pickled jalapeno, honey butter: This oven baked cornbread was to die for! The cornbread wasn't dry at all, and the honey butter just sealed the deal for me. Warm, fluffy cornbread with a spicy kick from the jalapeno and a nice complement with the slightly sweet honey butter. It comes out piping hot from the oven, and the honey butter just melts all over cornbread. Yum.

FOH Salad, ahi tuna, butter lettuce, corn, peanut cilantro vinaigrette: This was definitely a light entree, and it was crisp and tasted exactly how it sounds!

Large Plates

Uni Pasta, spaghetti, crab, jalapeno: Who doesn't love uni pasta!? The creaminess of the dish was fantastic, and I love how the crab added a texture to the overall dish. Highly recommend!

Squid Ink Risotto, ink shrimp, calamari: The calamari was so tender, and the overall dish was fantastic! I enjoyed their large plates the most as everything was made so well. Definitely squeeze on the lemon for a nice contrast in flavors!

Steak Frites, coffee, frites, chorizo-ranch: This dry aged steak with coffee scrub had a overall crispy texture on the outside, but the inside was savory! Fries were nice and crisp as well.

Three-Finger Pork Chop, cliantro polenta, papaya salsa: I love when restaurants make their pork chop medium rare, and this one was fantastic! The pork was tender and juicy, and the fat on the side really added to the overall dish.

Dessert

Arroz Con Leche, cajeta, cinnamon: Not a big fan of rice desserts (I don't eat it often), but I enjoyed this one! Rice added a nice coarseness to the dish.

Panna Cotta, coconut espuma, mango: I could not stop eating this! The panna cotta was creamy and had just the right amount of viscosity.

Thank you FOH and @LosAngelesFoodieGirl for hosting! Food was delicious, and I had an amazing time! Their drinks that they brought out as a pairing were well mixed, and they have great deals at the bar so be sure to check that out as well! Great spot to visit if you're from Downtown!
