High Tea Theme for Bridal Shower
My big seestar Stacey is getting married! As her bridesmaid, I was given the responsibility to plan her bachelorette party and bridal shower. Since Stacey loves her high tea, we decided to go with that theme for her bridal shower! Planning took weeks, and we used a lot of Pinterest for our inspiration! Starting out with the food- we actually got together and thought out what sandwiches we wanted to make, and had a test run of the food. In the end, we settled upon an egg salad sandwich, smoked salmon toast, chicken with jam, and a turkey with mayo and horseradish sandwich from Arte Cafe in Cerritos. We also had a side of fruit platter and a walnut and pecan salad as a starter.
Of course, no high tea is complete without scones and dessert, so we had that as well. We got the berry scone mix and jam from Trader Joes, and we made the devonshire cream from scratch. We ended up putting the jam and cream in little jars so that it was more fitting to the atmosphere. For dessert, there were mini apple pies, cheesecake, tiramisu, and chocolate raspberry cake also from Arte Cafe. On top of all of those sweets, we also had ice cream from Carmela Ice Cream and red velvet, chocolate chip with rolo inside, and snickerdoodle cookies special ordered from Sweet T Bakery.
For drinks, we had a wide array of options. We had strawberry mint lemonade, rose lemonade, strawberry green tea, and rose black tea that we put into giant jars for serving with ice on the side. We got the lemonade at Costco and brewed the flavors into the drinks. We also had an option for hot tea and displayed the various tea bags on a plate. As party favors, we got mason jars with a cute flower pattern on top where you could stick the patterned straw through the middle. We also created a tag around each mason jar so that no one would get confused! And of course, to top off the drinks, we had champagne so that everyone could have a toast with the happy couple!
Last but not least, the decor. Of course, streamers and balloons on the walls in pink, blue and white. For the streamers, I added a little rose before every dip to add to the decor. We got a couple bouquets of flowers from the Original Flower Market in DTLA, and arranged a main centerpiece with roses, hydrangeas, and berries with two side pieces of baby's breath in mason jars to complete the theme. We also had a sign on the wall saying "Soon to be Mrs. Lam" for photos!
For favors, we made a little tin box with tea leaves inside and the exterior saying "The Perfect Blend," which I thought was super cute. Don't forget the utensils, napkins, plates and cups for the guests! We also had a few games going on throughout the shower including how much do you know about the bride and toilet paper lingerie. Overall, I had such a fun time planning and setting everything up! Pinterest definitely helped us achieve our vision! :) Congrats Stacey & John!
