Beer Belly

532 S Western Ave
Los Angeles, CA 90020

So much guilt in the food here... but so good! Came in with a couple of friends and started out with a couple craft beers. Their menu is so ironic and sarcastic! Their sections are divided by guilt; there is a guilt free, guilty, guiltier, guiltiest, and healthy desserts. Their desserts are the exact opposite of healthy which is great!

We ordered the death by duck fries from the guilty section, the loaded mac and cheese and buttermilk fried chicken from the guiltier section, and the catfish & chips from the guiltiest section.

We kind of regretted ordering the death by duck fries as the catfish and chips had fries, but it was good! The raspberry mustard was a nice complement to the duck.

The buttermilk fried chicken was surprisingly super tender and crispy on the outside, and it was yummy. The slightly spicy BBQ sauce that they offered was so good with the fried chicken, we killed the whole dish in seconds.

The catfish and chips was more unique- it comes in a paper back and four different sauces; you pick and choose what sauces you want with your fish (or combine them all) then you close the bag and shake up the fish! The fish with the various sauces was good- my friend put too much vinegar but it's okay. The fish cut was a little thicker than usual, and the batter was more heavy. Great hipster dish though!

Last but not least, the loaded mac and cheese. This one came out last because they have to bake it, and it was my favorite dish of the night. The sauce was so creamy and rich, and the bottom had mashed potatoes which really added to the mac and cheese. The top was baked crispy and had crumbles and texture on it... it was heavenly.

Great late night spot to drink beer and hang out with friends! Giant bonus that the food is pretty damn good... Love how it's right next to I Love Boba!
